Ok, so in a back post, I promised myself to send my sick Smena 8M to the HongKong Lomo shop where it was purchased. Turns out, it’s more complicated than I thought.

First of all, shipping! It’s gonna cost me 1200Php, which I’m not willing to shell out at this time because of our upcoming vacation.

Second, we’re not sure we cannot ensure that the camera will be shipped to home. As Jan will be going home to Baguio, I to Davao this Christmas.And if indeed it takes 8 weeks, no one will be here in Manila to receive the package. I can’t just leave my precious camera with the building staff!

Third, if the camera goes through customs and no papers are presented, we might have to pay some kind of fee to obtain it at the Quezon City post office! I don’t want to go there, it’s scary.

SO.. I’m revising my promise: After this weekend’s vacation to Laoag, I’ll be off to Quiapo and look for a camera repair shop that I can trust. I’ve met Jun Dimayuga before and people say he knows Lomo. I honestly think the “damage” is simple enough to repair. Hopefully I can wait on him while he repairs it.

Meanwhile, I’m gonna take the Smena on this upcoming trip! WEEE!
