[Smena 8M] Happy Accidents by filmfish

Having the Smena is a wonderful thing. I’ve had it for a year now, and I’ve only started warming up to it, and actually using it the “proper” way. But in my natural absent-mindedness, there are things that I do forget despite muscle memory and force of habit. Fortunately, not all accidents are ugly. Here are two of my lucky shots from the last roll of film:

This was how Digiprint scanned our photos. 😦 that’s why we had to crop the photos using photoshop :p These two photos were taken by Jessie in Cloud Nine, Antipolo using expired Kodak Elitechrome on the Black Bird, Fly. Above is the courtyard and below is the view from the hotel. (January 2009)

This is the first roll to be used up in our new Blackbird, Fly. The previous post shows how it does using expired slide film + long exposure at night time. This time, using up fresh Fujicolor 200 Film during the daytime.

Ok, so in a back post, I promised myself to send my sick Smena 8M to the HongKong Lomo shop where it was purchased. Turns out, it’s more complicated than I thought.

First of all, shipping! It’s gonna cost me 1200Php, which I’m not willing to shell out at this time because of our upcoming vacation.

Kidadoblog left me a meme to fill up. 🙂 here goes

Six things about myself.

  1. My parents called me up this year, now that I’m 24, to tell me they have accepted the fact that i’m inherently nocturnal and that even as a child they are unable to put me to bed.
  2. I hate being alone, but I don’t always want to be interactive. (Maybe I should get a dog when I/we move to a new city.)
  3. I have been the biggest japanophile in high school that i’d buy any magazine that said japan on it.
  4. I attempted to teach myself chinese in high school, didn’t work. hahahaha.
  5. My dream job is to be a book shopper.
  6. it’s very easy to bribe me into doing things: chocolate (or any kind of food)

beach lovin’ year – 2008 XD by filmfish

during the crazy cebu pacific promo rush, nina, karl, jan and i booked cheap flights to laoag, wishing we can pull off pagudpud and vigan all in a weekend’s time on november. wish us luck, as all these thunderstorms are sending us off to daydreams of the beach. this year we’ve covered: anawangin (zambales), coron (palawan) and of course, the standard anilao (batangas). can’t wait for november!

These photos were from last christmas’ carnival affair with Bryan and Thea. It was pretty dizzying so after sampling the rides, we went and had coffee at Boni High Street to treat our stomachs.

But from the ferris wheel, some shots turned out pretty well. The roll I had using the ASA 200 turned out so-so, as Twiggy might call them, they were pretty “retro-chic” thanks to the low ASA.

it’s raining and we have tons of work to do by filmfish

this is exactly where we are now. in the middle of the storm, only difference is, this place is filled with people who are studying or at least pretending to study.
